"Coming from undergraduate studies in New Zealand, I chose Melbourne University to study my Doctor of Clinical Psychology, (Child specialisation) for its stunning location and good reputation. I haven’t been disappointed. The close and supportive atmosphere in the postgraduate course makes it easy to make friends and settle into a new city very quickly.

As a new student at the university, I found it especially important to attend all the postgraduate information sessions and tours, visit the postgraduate building and become familiar with staff and facilities available within the psychology department. All of these things helped me settle in more quickly.

There are many and varied research opportunities at Melbourne University – so much so that I have decided to apply to transfer into the combined Child Clinical Masters/PhD program to extend my research project (where I’m looking at psychopathology in prematurely-born adults). By transferring I am able to open up the possibility of a research or teaching career, while still having a thorough training in clinical psychology, and all of the career opportunities associated with clinical practice."
