Dr Trevor Chong
PhD Graduate 07
Physician Trainee, St Vincent's Hospital

Dr Trevor Chong is a medical practitioner who completed his PhD in the School of Behavioural Science in 2007.

His research used a combination of behavioural and functional neuroimaging techniques to examine the response properties of the human 'mirror neuron system'
– a network of brain areas underlying the human ability to execute actions and perceive those of others. With the support of scholarships from the University of Melbourne and the NH&MRC, he had the opportunity to conduct part of his PhD at the Massachussetts Institute of Technology, and his dissertation was later acknowledged by being awarded the Dean's Award for Excellence in a PhD.

Trevor continues to pursue his research interests in cognitive neuroscience, particularly in the neural correlates of conscious experience and the self-other distinction.
He is currently working as a physician trainee at St Vincent's Hospital, with a view to speciality training in Neurology
