I have two major roles at Swinburne: being Head of Group (about 30 academics in the group - Management and Entrepreneurship); and second, furthering research. My current research interests are split between health and safety-related workplace (errorless) performance and individual motivations.
Research Interests:
- Health: systems and analytic strategies; adverse events; complication of care; occupational stress
- Human Factors: mental models; human-automation interaction; mental and job workload; manipulation of work environments to improve efficiencies; air traffic control systems
- Abilities & Skills: acquisition and development of skill in jobs; intuition; general, perceptual speed and psychomotor skills; development of abilities; impact of ageing on abilities
- Motivation: motives; willpower; inspiration; workaholism; self-motivation; interaction between motivation, jobs and health
- Entrepreneurship: entrepreneurial motivations, orientations and processes; social networks, age and cultural differences, capacity to be creative and intuitive
