The University of Melbourne Psychology Clinic - Making an Appointment

Making an Appointment for Our Clinical Psychology Services

Contacting the Clinic is easy- simply follow these steps:

  1. Call the Psychology Clinic on (03) 9326 4774. Our receptionists- Sue or Sonia- will ask for your name, and contact details.
  2. A counsellor from the Psychology Clinic will call you back to complete a brief assessment over the phone. This information will be used to match you with an appropriate counsellor and to ensure the Clinic has the resources to best meet your needs.
You may be placed on a short waiting list but when an appropriate counsellor is available he or she will call you to arrange a time for your first appointment. In most cases you will be seen by a counsellor within a fortnight of first contacting the Clinic. The reception staff will call you back to arrange a time for your first appointment. It is expected that you will be seen by a counsellor within a week of first contacting the Clinic.

Referrals from Health Professionals

The Psychology Clinic also accepts referrals from health professionals such as General Practitioners, Psychiatrists and Psychologists. Our services can be accessed independently or as an adjunct to other pharmacological and psychological treatments by all members of the community. Please note that services offered at the Psychology Clinic cannot be claimed on Medicare or from Private Health Insurance companies. However we are happy to see patients who do not meet diagnostic criteria for a mental illness and are therefore ineligible to claim any fees for psychological treatment via Medicare and cannot afford to pay full fees for such treatment. We can also provide treatment for more than the 12 sessions that is available through Medicare.
